Koi Fish

Koi fish are decorative varieties of the common carp (Cyprinus carpio) that were developed in ancient China during the Jin Dynasty. The Koi (also known as Japanese Carp) were developed from carp in China then later brought to Japan and Korea, and today have been transferred all over the world. To this day these ornamental fish are very popular as a symbol of love and friendship that are kept for decorative purposes, often in an outdoor koi pond or water gardens.  A large variety of colors and color patterns have since been developed. The most popular and common colors include white, black, red, yellow, blue, and cream with many different flecks and markings.
